It has never failed to boot or function properly. The only issue is a skip or bobble in the music occasionally.

So I'm still pleased with the Carlinkit device but I'll update this as I go.Īfter 1 month I can say that this device works just about perfectly. Phone and Navigation works fine I tested it with Waze, Google Maps, and the built in Map app.Īs I said, on a longer trip, I can also just take the Carlinkit out of the loop if I need to and the system just reverts back to USB. It is so cool to just fire up the car with the phone in my pocket and have CarPlay pop up and resume playing music.ĥ. I am running IOS 14 Beta.īut, the advantages and ease of use of the Carlinkit device make me not too concerned. That could be the device, or my phone's wireless, or the head unit. When playing music, every 4 or 5 minutes or so, there is a slight bobble, like a record skip. The sound quality is actually pretty good and I've used all the music apps, but,Ĥ. (I went back to using the USB connection and the jitter went away.)ģ. Could be the Carlinkit device, my phone's wireless or the head unit who knows. There is a little jitter/lag when transitioning screens, not terrible just noticeable. I did notice that once connected the green light on the Carlinkit flashes slowly.Ģ. It always boots up in about 38 seconds I've never had to do anything on the phone settings after the initial setup. (I’m working on installation of a Qi charger.) It takes about 15 seconds for the car to boot into Carplay with a USB cable, after it's plugged in, so for an additional 15 seconds I'm free of the cord - that's great! (The pictures are taken running Carplay with the Carlinkit.)Īs a follow up, after using the device a several days:ġ. But for making short trips it's fantastic, I can always go back to wired for longer trips or when needing charging. In honesty, the sound quality seems is a bit less, and some screen transitions are a bit jittery.

Well that's about as long as it takes to get buckled in and ready to roll anyway, plus you can keep you phone in your pocket or in the console and no fumbling with the cord now. Car boots into Carplay quickly: 38 seconds from cold start and then picks up currently/previously playing from the iPhone. Was prepared for potential installation glitches there were none. It works! Installed this on a Hyundai with factory Carplay and iPhone 10 running IOS 14 Beta.
